Abstrak

Social media offers churches a powerful platform to foster dialogue, build community, and reach individuals exploring faith. By engaging thoughtfully in comments and discussions, churches can transform digital spaces into hubs for spiritual connection and outreach. To fulfill their role in an increasingly hybrid world, where physical and digital boundaries blur, churches must adopt theological and ethical frameworks for online communication. This includes sharing hope, love, and faith-centered content to counteract online hate, bullying, and polarization, leveraging the Gospel to disrupt harmful echo chambers. Digital Christian communities are already emerging, offering new forms of connection, such as prayer groups, life-sharing forums, and support networks. Despite the fragmented nature of online engagement, clergy, educators, and volunteers represent the church in these spaces, meeting the growing demand for anonymous, noncommittal spiritual resources. By actively participating and providing timely, relevant content on platforms like Facebook and Instagram, churches can embrace the digital era as an essential extension of their mission, making online engagement a necessity rather than a choice.
